CleanBC Rebates
Through the CleanBC program, rebates of up to $3,000 are available for heat pump installations. These rebates can be combined with the federal Greener Homes Grant. All the heat pumps we install that qualify for the federal grant also qualify for the maximum $3,000 CleanBC rebate. BC Hydro is currently adding an additional $3,000 to the CleanBC rebate, bringing the total potential rebate amount to $15,600. Please note that if you already have a heat pump, you are not eligible to receive a CleanBC rebate on a new one. In this case, only the federal grant would be available.
CleanBC is a program in British Columbia, Canada that provides rebates for homeowners, businesses, and organizations to upgrade to more energy-efficient heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems. The program aims to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and support the transition to a low-carbon economy. Eligible HVAC systems include high-efficiency furnaces, heat pumps, and boilers. The rebates vary depending on the type of system and its efficiency rating. For example, a homeowner may be eligible for a rebate of up to $2,500 for upgrading to a high-efficiency furnace, or up to $4,000 for installing a heat pump.
In addition to rebates, the program also offers incentives for the installation of advanced controls and duct sealing, as well as a free Home Energy Assessment to help identify potential energy-saving opportunities. To apply for a rebate, homeowners need to submit a completed application form along with proof of purchase and installation of the new system. Businesses and organizations can apply through a participating contractor. The CleanBC program is subject to change and these rebates are subject to availability of funds, so it’s important to check the program’s website for the most up-to-date information and to confirm the eligibility of your equipment and installation.
Greener Homes Grant
To be eligible for all rebates, heat pump systems must be designed to heat the entire home, have a Region 4 HSPF rating of at least 10, and be capable of providing at least 3.52 kW (12 kBTU/h) of heat at 8.3°C. This includes a $5,000 cold climate heat pump rebate, a $2,500 rebate for a 2-head system and a $4,000 rebate for a 3-head system.
Additional Rebates up to $6,000 are available for homeowners in Vancouver and the North Shore. Please note that all rebate programs are subject to end when funding expires. It is likely that these municipal rebates will not be available for long.
